Nancy b 1795-1800 VA or KY died January 25, 1891 married Abram Baker March 21, 1814 in Madison County. They may have eloped if she was underage. children named as heirs: John born 1811 m D.E. ??? Eliza born 1815 James born 1821-1825 Joseph born 1821-1825 Betsy born 1826-1830 found in Allen County KY 1842 and 1850 John James and Joseph sold land from the estate to Abram Baker May be related to Elisha, Jesse, Abednego, Benjamin or Elijah, as most moved to Indiana about the same time from the same area in KY. Other states: Massachussetts, New York John Butler Walden, b. circa 1794 Henrico County, VA. Married 1/1819 to Martha Smith Powel, daughter of Frederick Powel and Sally Carter (who were married 1792). John Butler and Martha had a son, Zachariah Butler Walden, born 11/1819 in Richmond, VA, and a daughter Martha Elizabeth, born circa 1820. John Butler Walden died circa 1840 and both children married shortly thereafter. Martha Elizabeth married a Philip Rahm 1841. Zachariah Butler Walden married Mary Evelyn Powell 1841 and they had a son, Richard Channing Walden born 11/1/1842. Mary Evelyn was born 1824. Zachariah was a tailor in Richmond and his wife Mary was a milliner. Zachariah died 1895. Richard Channing Walden married Martha Alice Whitworth, daughter of John Whitworth and Martha Howe. The Whitworth family was resident in Virginia from about 1850, but Martha Howe was born in Massachussetts. Richard was a tailor in Richmond with his father, and a member of the Crenshaw Battery of Pegram's Battallion from its inception to surrender during the Civil War. Martha Alice and Richard Channing Walden had five children: John Whitworth Walden (b. 2/7/1868, m. Catherine Russell Smith, d. 1/7/1956); Evelyn (b.1869, m. Robert Hubbard, d. 9/12/1941); Mattie Howe (b.1/25/1871, m. Harry B. Rennie, d. 9/7/1942); Mary Lee (b. 1872, m. Hugh Latimer Cordozo, d. 12/7/1946); and Richard Channing Walden, born 4/5/1874. Richard Channing Walden, Jr. was born in Richmond and apprenticed as a dentist, later earning a dental degree at the University of Maryland (1894). He practiced in Richmond and was professer at Medical College of Virginia and University College of Medicine. Richard married Daisy Burwell, from Brooklyn NY, the daughter of Charles Burwell and Martha Wilkinson. Charles Burwell was a broker with the New York Stock Exchange from 1876 to 1883, then became a real estate developer in Brooklyn. Richard Walden Jr. died 1930; Daisy had died in 1910 and Dr. Walden remarried to Eleanor Gary with no children. Richard and Daisy had one son, Charles Burwell Walden born 4/1908. Charles married Katherine Terhune Robertson and had one child, Charles Burwell Walden, Jr., born 1928. Charles, Jr. is my father. I am seeking information on the parents of John Butler Walden. Also, I have extensive detail on other Waldens of Virginia, including all counties prior to 1870, as far back as 1622 at Martins Hundred near the site of Carter's Grove.
